Mahagauri - Day 8 of Navaratri

We all have to go through penance, hardships and challenges to grow beyond our own defined limits. Everything is possible only if we are ready, have unblemished intention, purity of Sankalpa, and readiness to transform. Lift up your self-worth to supreme consciousness.

The day of Mahagauri, the goddess of Radiance.

Maha means great and Gauri means one whose complexion is pearly radiant.

Symbology: When the Shakti took the sankalpa to be one with Shiva/her consciousness, she performed severe austerity and tapas. She was covered with dust and dirt and burnt by the scorching heat of the sun. Upon the awakening of Shiva/consciousness, she was bathed in the pure, serene, healing waters of the Ganges, which made her shine brilliantly like the pearly radiant moon. She transformed to Mahagauri at this moment.

Takeaway: We all have to go through penance, hardships and challenges to grow beyond our own defined limits. Everything is possible only if we are ready, have unblemished intention, purity of Sankalpa, and readiness to transform. Lift up your self-worth to supreme consciousness.

Ritual: On the 8th day of Navaratri, nine girls are worshipped as the divine manifestation of Goddess Herself.

Practices to Invoke Ma Mahagauri

Look around and give gifts of love, encouragement, and support to young girls, for they are the present and the future of this land. They will forge the path of creation, kindness, love, and hope for humanity and Mother Nature like Mahagauri.

Look within and if the child within you is confused, scared, or conflicted, give it the gift of love, kindness, and encouragement. It is okay to go through challenges, but without losing hope. Know that you have an everlasting reservoir of strength, hope, and divinity within you.

Japa: Om Dum Mahagauri Hreem Namaha

Meditation: Meditate upon the point 12 finger-widths above the crown, known as dwadasha-anta. At this point, the cosmic Kundalini merges with our Kundalini and becomes Prana Kundalini—the animating force within.
